Workshops
Workshop slots are full for 2008.
For 2008, the Living Green Expo solicited workshop proposals by invitation.
Overview
Presenters benefit from giving their message wide exposure, including access to over 22,000 visitors at the Expo, promotion on the Expo web site, and a listing in the Expo program. Based on past years' experience, workshops draw an average of 25 attendees, but some workshops have drawn as many as 70 people. Regrettably, we are unable to offer a stipend to workshop presenters.
Focus of workshops
Most Living Green Expo workshops emphasize specific actions individuals and households can take to build personal responsibility and support a green marketplace. We are most interested in workshops that build enthusiasm for sustainable living, rather than presentations that overwhelm them with information about the unsustainability of the American lifestyle. Ideally, the workshops will cover living green actions throughout the living green spectrum, from light green to dark green.
The priority for workshops is positive, practical, and applicable living green actions that people can carry out when they get home. Workshops focused on advertising a specific product or service are discouraged.
Workshop format
- The expo plans to offer 48 one-hour workshops.
- Six workshops will run concurrently in large tents set up outside the State Fair Grandstand, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday (May 3) and Sunday (May 4).
- Workshops will include 40 minutes of presentation time (one or two speakers is ideal) and 20 minutes for questions and discussion.
- There will be a half-hour break between each workshop.
Sponsorship
The Living Green Expo invites organizations that support our objectives to join us in helping to produce this unique community-oriented event.
Organizations interested in sponsoring the 2008 Living Green Expo are invited to complete the online Sponsorship Proposal and Agreement. For more information, contact Jeff Ledermann, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, jeff.ledermann@pca.state.mn.us or 651-215-0236.
Benefits of sponsorship
Event sponsorship is a mutually beneficial partnership. Sponsorship provides “green” businesses, organizations, products, and services with enhanced visibility among those who attend the Expo, as well as a much larger audience before and after the event. At the same time, sponsors provide the cash and in-kind support necessary for us to reach a growing audience and offer a quality event.
Who can be a sponsor?
In general, sponsors must demonstrate a commitment to the Living Green Expo's goals.
- Companies whose products and operations have significantly reduced environmental impacts, and move in the direction of long-term sustainability.
- Companies with a specific product line or service with significantly reduced environmental impacts are also eligible, as long as the sponsorship features that specific product or service.
- Government or nonprofit organizations whose objectives are consistent with the Living Green Expo.
Sponsorship levels and benefits
Living Green Expo sponsors benefit in many ways, including the acknowledgement of their commitment to a better environment and the association with a widely publicized, positive, community-oriented event. Sponsors receive benefits based on the amount and type of contribution in the following categories:
Deadlines
After January 15, 2008, the Living Green Expo cannot guarantee all of the sponsorship benefits described above (listing in publications, etc.). However, we will make every attempt to include sponsors in publications and provide other benefits based on when the sponsorship proposal was received.
The deadline for ensuring on-site and program benefits is March 20, 2008.
Other opportunities
The Living Green Expo offers visitors a variety of attractions and amenities that make it a fun weekend event, including food, music, and volunteer opportunities.
